Our featured artist for the month of December is Dan Oliver. He will have 7 of his pieces displayed, with the theme of FLOW.
His bio:
”I was born in Ripon, Wisconsin and spent much of my childhood outdoors with the Boy Scouts or visiting my Grandparents in Waupaca, Wisconsin. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. After college, I moved to Chicago to study improv comedy at iO and The Second City, where I performed in theatre and film for over a decade before moving to Los Angeles.
While in Los Angeles, my love for oil painting erupted in a new environment. Endless Summer days spent painting in my studio flowed out of me as abstract art liberated my spirit. Being self-taught gave me the freedom to create from intuition while utilizing my improv experience to create works of art in the moment.
Oil painting became my obsession that Summer in my small East Hollywood studio. It was a way to cope with life, trauma & pain, as well as further explore the emotional scale and the concepts of neuroscience and positive psychology. Several smaller works found my first gallery representation in East Hollywood through Maggie Dever's De Plume Gallery.
My art is about connection, creativity and expression. The subject matter ranges from nature, literature reflections, pop culture and global cultural phenomenon. Most of my collectors are within the arts and entertainment industry. As an innovator, I quickly hopped into the NFT (non-fungible token) space and translated my physical works to the digital realm on Rarible.com and Opensea. I've seen begun creating entirely digital works of art as well for the NFT market.
When individuals encourage artistic growth and expansion in others, we will enter into a new world of possibility and wealth never before witnessed on this planet. My work explores expansion through the use of color, abstraction and emotion to stimulate the viewer's own creative potential. I currently reside in Ripon, WI. I love to sing & gourmet vegan food, coffee and wine! More information and works available at DanOliverDesign.com Thank you for being here and supporting Vines & Rushes and the arts!”
