September Artist Uncorked: Michaela Foreman

Our September Artist of the Month is Michaela Foreman!

Michaela Foreman’s journey into photography is deeply intertwined with her transition from urban life to rural Wisconsin.  Formerly a computer programmer, project manager, and entrepreneur, Foreman embraced a new life as a farmer, and for the past seven years, her photography had evolved alongside her agricultural experiences  Her images chronicle the rhythms of farm life, capturing both its beauty and stark realities.  Through her lens, Foreman presents an intimate portrait of rural living,, particularly during the harsh Wisconsin winters, when the landscape is stripped of color and warmth.  Her work serves as an homage to farmers whose resilience and dedication carry through even the most unforgiving conditions.

“All of my photography occurs on my farm,” Foreman shared.  “I have forty acres in which to find something I can share with the rest of the world.  I love where I live, and I hope to convey that through my photography.”  Her deep connection to the land allows her to capture the subtleties of light and season, offering a unique perspective on her surroundings.  Whether its the golden light of sunrise or the quiet shadows in a barns dark corner, Foreman find beauty in the everyday moments of farm life.

Foreman’s approach to photography is rooted in a profound appreciation for detail and the ability to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.  “An Instagram follower once told me I have a way of elevating the ordinary into something extraordinary, which was a lovely compliment,” she recalls.  Carrying her camera during daily chores, she often takes up to one hundred photos a day, documenting everything from the striking beauty of her horses and tulips to unexpected moments, like the play of light in a quiet corner.

At its heart, Foreman’s photography reflects a deep love for her farm and her life in rural Wisconsin.  Through her images, she invites viewers to see the beauty she sees in her world, whether in the stark chill of winter morning or the quiet, glowing light of a barn at dusk."
