Joann's Bio:
“Joann has created art for decades! Painting, drawing, fiber arts, she is trained in, Printmaking; Relief - both woodcut and linoleum, Intaglio, Lithography, (etching) and Serigraphy (screen printing). She has earned a BFA in 2D Studio Art with a concentration on Printmaking, and a Minor in Art History, from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. The printing studios at UWO with all the tools to create any kind of print was marvelous until ...well, you know!
Now working from a home studio and unable to work with all the chemicals and equipment available at UWO, the focused became solely on serigraphy, drawing, creating coloring pages and greeting cards and now watercolors. Moving forward and always creating is what is near and dear to her heart.”

Lucky Pickers is an acoustic trio from Northern Illinois, featuring singer/songwriters Despina Pafralides, Caleb Peters, and upright bassist Sean Carolan. Originally a duo, the band blends Americana and Bluegrass with heartfelt harmonies and skillful instrumentation.

Our April Artisan of the Month is Erin Quick-Laughlin 

I have struggled since childhood with vision problems, nearly losing my sight, but in 2021, a new treatment greatly improved my vision.
This inspired an addition to my art style, adding figurative works to my earlier impressionism. 

Today, I primarily work in oils on canvas or board, focusing on European landscapes and the human figure. My originals can be found in galleries throughout eastern Wisconsin, with prints and merchandise available during summer art fairs. I’ve had the honor of participating in several prestigious plein air competitions, including those in Cedarburg, Oshkosh, and Richeson’s of the Fox Cities.

The works you see here represent places I've been, people I know, and things I like to look at. I work most frequently in acrylic on canvas or board, preferring European landscapes and the human figure. 
Let me know if there is something you'd like to see on my canvas; I'm a friendly guy! I was born in California and raised in Wisconsin, where I reside with my family.

Our March 7th Cause of the Monday is Caestecker Public Library, in Green Lake, Wisconsin.

Since 1982, the Friends of the Caestecker Public Library have supported the library through fundraising, volunteer work, and funding special projects.

• They’ve helped with homebound delivery, book sales, and Sunday operations, and have funded materials, programs, and unique items like bird monitoring kits and outdoor adventure backpacks.

• Major contributions include replacing the library’s roof in 2011, remodeling the lower level in 2017, and updating bathrooms in 2021.

The Friends of the Library are excited to launch Library Besties—a fun new way for young community members to get involved! Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade can join for just $1 per year and enjoy fun activities, events, and special promotions.

Mike Malone is a percussionist based out of Oshkosh. He has toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Five By Design and Ray Brown Jr. He performs throughout the midwest with a variety of groups including The Pocket Kings, Water City Jazz Orchestra, Stuck On Blue, Salsa Manzana and more.
His trio is filled out by top musicians based out of the Fox Valley. They play a mix of jazz standards, along with original compositions and arrangements.

Our Cause on April 21st is Gabriel's Wings.

Gabriel's Wings Foundation was founded in 2020 after we lost our son Gabriel to suicide. Gabe, a Ripon school student, loved sports and had an infectious smile. He made everyone feel included and was truly everyone's friend. The foundation was created to honor Gabriel's memory, raise awareness about mental health, provide resources for those struggling or grieving a loss from suicide, and to help "end the stigma." Our family is committed to keeping Gabriel’s spirit alive by offering hope and support to those affected by suicide.

• Gabriel's Wings is currently supporting organizations as they set up or enhance Mental Wellness Programs.

• In 2022, Gabriel's Wings Scholarships was formed as has been awarding High School graduates throughout WI who represent caring, giving spirit that Gabe shared with all - Shine on for Gabe!

• We continue to seek avenues and partnerships to further focus on the importance of mental wellness, resiliency programs and suicide awareness.
