January Artist Uncorked : April Johnson with AI Garage Art

Our January Artist Uncorked is April Johnson with AI Garage Art

Biography of April and Ian:

A Journey of Healing Through Art

April Johnson, a devoted mother and emerging artist, found herself at a crossroads this year after the unexpected losses of her father and grandmother. Seeking solace and a creative outlet, she turned to art, a passion she had always admired but never fully explored. Alongside her son, Ian, she embarked on a transformative journey of creation, not just as a means to keep their minds busy, but as a way to honor the memories of their loved ones.

The duo quickly discovered that their artistic process was as much about decision-making as it was about creativity. They embraced the challenge of starting from scratch, experimenting with various techniques and styles. This journey pushed them into a vulnerable space, where they questioned whether their creations would resonate with others. However, the experience has been a blessing, allowing them to connect deeply with their emotions and channel their grief into vibrant pieces of art.

April and Ian believe that each artwork they create speaks to a specific individual, almost as if they are crafting pieces for someone they have yet to meet. They often witness the magical moment when a potential buyer’s eyes light up upon encountering a canvas, as if they’ve found a missing piece of themselves. “Oh wow! I have to have it!” has become a familiar phrase in their artistic endeavors, affirming their belief that art is a feeling—a profound connection that transcends the canvas.

Through their journey, April and Ian have not only cultivated their artistic talents but also forged an unbreakable bond. Creating art together has become a beautiful way to process their emotions and celebrate life, turning pain into purpose. Their story is a testament to the healing power of creativity and the magic of art, proving that to create a feeling is indeed a beautiful thing.

Cause of the Monday - Emmet is Love

Our Cause of the Monday on February 16th is "Emmet is Love".

Emmet Zodrow was a bright, kind-hearted 12-year-old boy whose life was tragically cut short when he was struck by an 85-year-old motorist while riding his bike on the sidewalk to the library.

Emmet was full of curiosity, compassion, and love. He loved books, learning, biking, baseball, and spending time with those he loved. He touched the lives of many in his short time here.

A foundation, Emmet Is Love, was established to honor Emmet’s memory in meaningful ways. Specifically, plans are to use donations to:

  • Build a raised pitching mound at Murray Park in Ripon as a lasting tribute to Emmet’s love for baseball.

  • Install a garden and reflection area at the Caestecker Library for the community to remember Emmet’s spirit.

  • Upgrade local baseball fields to benefit young athletes like Emmet.

  • Establish an AYA scholarship in Emmet’s name, a cause dear to his heart.

  • More information : https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1Zwrt8oHy8/?mibextid=wwXIfr

25% of food sales and cash donations go directly to support Emmet's memory.

Whether you knew Emmet well or only knew of him, we invite you to celebrate his life, grieve his loss, and support each other in the healing process.

Please join us on February 16th to surround Emmet’s loving family with support and celebrate the beautiful light he brought into the world.
